Description:
Sopa Boat -Use this to display a dramatic effect of surface tension. Place the
lightweight plastic boat in a tank and fill the stern resevoir with
liquid soap, such as dishwashing soap. As the soap drips through the two
holes, it coats the water and lowers the surface tension. This makes
the surface tension of the water under the bow comparatively higher,
which imparts a force on the boat, making it creap forwards. You'd be
surprised how fast it can go! Experiement with different types of soap.
